By submitting artwork, the artist is agreeing to the following, "The enclosed artwork is my original creation. I did not copy it from anywhere, and I did not have any help creating it. I know that, once submitted, my artwork becomes
the property of Road & Track Magazine, the Automotive Fine Arts Society, and the Carroll
Shelby Children’s Foundation and may be reprinted or exhibited without further
consent or compensation. I understand that if I win this contest, I must be ready to
provide my (or my parent/guardian’s) social security number for registration of the
U.S. Savings Bond."
1. HOW TO ENTER: Complete the official entry form. On a separate sheet of
8 ½” x 11” paper (or illustration board), draw or paint the car you want to drive when
you grow up. Mail your original artwork, entry form, $5 entry fee/donation (check or
money order in U.S. dollars) to the Carroll Shelby Children’s Foundation along with a
self-addressed stamped return envelope (if you wish to have your artwork returned
- *note regarding winning entries see below*) – Mail to: 6th Kids’ Automotive Art
Contest, Carroll Shelby Children’s Foundation, 19021 South Figueroa Street, Gardena,
CA 90248. Entries must be postmarked by March 19, 2008. The entry must be an
original work. Winners will be chosen on the basis of creativity and originality. *Note:
winning entries will not be returned. Winners will be given a color reproduction of
their artwork. Winner’s artwork may be exhibited and then auctioned by AFAS & R&T
to benefit CSCF.
2. ENTRY LIMITATIONS: Only one entry per person. Open only to children in
kindergarten through twelfth grade, as of March 19, 2008, who are residents of the
United States and not employees of Road & Track Magazine, their parent or affiliated
companies, or members of the Automotive Fine Arts Society, or members of their
families. Former Grand Prize Winners of the Kids’ Automotive Art Contest are not
eligible. Not responsible for printing errors nor stolen, incomplete, lost, mutilated,
illegible, misdirected, late entries or mail, or postage-due mail.
3. RESERVATIONS: Void where prohibited or restricted by law. Subject to all federal,
state, provincial and local laws and regulations. All entries become the sponsor’s
property and may be published, exhibited or otherwise used at the discretion of the
sponsor without compensation or acknowledgment. If requested, original artwork
will be returned to entrants by August 30, 2008, but will not be returned unless a
self-addressed return envelope with postage is included with entry. *Note: winning
entries will not be returned, a color reproduction of the artwork will be returned in its
place. By entering this contest each entrant agrees to be bound by these rules and
the decisions of the judges, and the winners each consent to the use of name/likeness
for advertising, trade and promotional purposes without further compensation,
except where prohibited by law. Not responsible for damages, losses or injury resulting
from acceptance/use of the prizes.
4. WINNERS: Finalists and winners will be notified by mail on or about May 1,
2008. The failure of a potential winner’s parents/legal guardians to execute and
return an Affidavit of Eligibility/Release within 10 days from the date of notification,
or return of a notification as undeliverable, will result in disqualification and
the selection of an alternate winner. In the event of non-compliance with rules
and conditions, prize may be awarded to an alternate winner. All taxes are the sole
responsibility of the winner’s parents/legal guardians. For a list of winners, (available
after June 1, 2008) send a self-addressed, stamped business-size envelope to Kids’

5. PROCEDURES: Contest begins on August 19, 2007 and ends on March
19, 2008. Prizes will be awarded on or about June 1, 2008. The magazine’s staff,
members of the Automotive Fine Arts Society (AFAS,) designers from participating
automotive companies, and Carroll Shelby will serve as judges in making the preliminary
and final selections. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries
received and the quality of the entries. The decision of the judges is final.
6. PRIZES: One (1) Grand Prize winner from K – 8th grade and one (1) Grand Prize
winner from 9th – 12th grade will each receive a $5,000 Series EE U.S. Savings Bond
($5,000 face value of bond redeemed at maturity, $2,500 present value). Five (5) First
Prize winners will receive $2,000 Series EE U.S. Savings Bonds ($2,000 face value of
bond redeemed at maturity, $1,000 present value) – Grade categories: K-2nd, 3rd-4th,
5th-6th, 7th-8th, 9th-12th. Fifty (50) finalists will each receive an official contest Tshirt,
a 1-year subscription to Road & Track Magazine, an autographed photo of Carroll
Shelby and an official certificate of achievement (approximate retail value $150 each).
Prizes are not redeemable for cash or transferable and no substitution allowed except
at the sole discretion of the sponsor, who may substitute prizes of equal or greater
value. All prizes will be awarded.
